Three Performances Feature a Culmination of the Year’s Classes with over 400 Students
Ballet Hawaii presents Spring Showcase 2019 on May 18 at 7:00 p.m. and May 19 at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. The Saturday evening performance features excerpts of classical ballets and original works performed by students from Ballet Hawaii’s pre-professional training program. Learning the history and style of the choreography from classical and contemporary ballets is a vital element in a dancer’s development. Performing these selections is the culmination of weeks of study and daily rehearsal. Every student at Ballet Hawaii performs in the Spring Showcase recital with new choreography by their talented and dedicated instructors including Susan Quong, Regina Ahlgren, Yvonne Yanigahara, Crystal Yukumoto, Kaleigh Jones, and many more.

The Moana Surfrider invites you to experience a taste of the islands with a quarterly interactive culinary adventure.

This month's class will feature flavors of the south with step-by-step instructions, recipes and tips on how to make the classic Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo, featuring local, specialty sausages by the Kukui Sausage Company. Always a big hit with the crowd, gumbo is a great party dish that can be made ahead of time.

Following the demonstration will be a multi-course lunch served in the oceanfront Grand Salon to enjoy the just-made gumbo, with local style dirty rice, a summer salad and mixed berry trifle. Mixologist Dave Powers will pair refreshing beers.

Guests will come away as Masters in their own right, ready to wow family and friends at home.

Grab Dad and the whole ohana for the best Aloha Friday event to kick off the weekend!

This casual beer pairing dinner will feature multiple beers presented by Splash Bar's resident beverage expert Jesse Suderman along with brewmasters from Kona Brewing Company. An onolicious menu from Chef Blake Kajiwara will make sure no one walks away still hungry.

The evening starts off with a sunset welcome reception in the Kapuni Room for a fantastic top-floor ocean views with tray-passed appetizers and refreshing brews.

Then the event moves into Splash Bar where the festivities continue with four courses of tasty island-style fare along with perfect beer complements. Live poolside entertainment provided by Kaimana Band.

$85 Adults //  $55 Children (ages 3-21)

TWELVENOONANDMIDNITE is a musicial duo comprised of TWELVENOON (Freddy Leone) and MIDNITE (Gabriel Miller). Freddy Leone, born and raised in Hawaii, allows true emotion to seep into his art and his soulful sound gives hope and joy in spite of loss. TWELVENOON’s influences come from his parents who both come from the musically rich areas of Los Angeles, and Motown. He aspired after various Artists like: Stevie Wonder, Fred Hammond, and Luther Vandross. His family background and his link to island culture blend together to make a unique style that many love. Gabriel Miller is a native hawaiian born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. His musical sound is sweet, and soulful . His musical influences are Matt Corby, Gary Clark Jr, and Norman Brown.

The HB19 All-Access Pass grants unlimited entry to the Honolulu Biennial Hub in Ward Village (location announced in January 2019!), Foster Botanical Garden, Bishop Museum and Honolulu Museum of Art from March 8th - May 5th, 2019.

The Biennial will take place at nearly a dozen locations on O’ahu, including the Ali’iolani Hale, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, Foster Botanical Garden, and Honolulu Museum of Art, with the hub located at Ward Village. Energies from across the Pacific Ocean will once again center in Hawaiʻi when Honolulu Biennial 2019 brings together 19 artists and artist groups from Hawaiʻi and 29 artists and artist groups of the Pacific, Asia and the Americas. The Biennial aims to contribute to local and global dialogs by connecting indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and creative expressions that are of these places.
